here’s a simple doughnut recipe. fun to do the sugary part with the kiddos, but be warned...sugar + small chubby hands = mess!
get one container of ready-to-bake biscuits. i used this one (it was on sale).
pop it open and cut each biscuit in half for small doughnut hole sized doughnuts.
...roll 'em up into little dough balls...
...fry 'em in not too hot oil...i burned the first batch---not that i'm impatient and turned it up on high or anything silly like that ;}. it worked much better on a medium-low temp.
combine white granulated sugar (i used organic c&h cane sugar) and sprinkle in some cinnamon. mix it up and roll the hot doughnuts into the sugar. my little one loved this part...he also liked licking his whole hand after rolling each doughnut in sugar. (this batch was just for us, so no worries!)
the insides are cake-like, a bit heavy for a donut, not light and fluffy as i would like, but not bad for a quick treat with almost zero prep time. :)
they were yummy!
